ROMANIA’S ROLE AND COMMITMENTS IN THE BOLOGNA PROCESS – OPORTUNITIES AND FUTURE TRENDS

The meeting – organized in the context of a broader event, the National Education Conference – stirred meaningful discussions concerning Romania’s commitments regarding the Bologna Process and future actions at national / institutional level deriving from these.
In the beginning, the general director of UEFISCDI, Adrian Curaj, gave a brief description of the “Higher Education Evidence Based Policy Making: a necessary premise for progress in Romania” project. The presentation emphasized the general project objectives, such as increasing the institutional capacity at national / university level, improving the efficiency of the data collection system for higher education, elaborating higher education analyses for future public policies.
Various experts involved in the specific project activity on Romania’s commitments in the EHEA shared their experiences on this topic. Thus, Mihai Korka expanded on student centered learning, while Ligia Deca highlighted the social dimension of higher education and recognition of prior learning.
Others people present in the meeting joined the discussions, outlining the relevance that an analysis on Romanian’s commitments in the EHEA poses, in order to underpin future public policies in higher education.
